Mah Jong Solitaire

DirectX

DirectX requirement: To run 3d program you need DirectX 6 or higher on your computer. If you do not have DirectX 6 or higher on your computer you can download DirectX free from Microsoft go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ then click on DirectX in left column.

3d Game Board Movement

Tilt Board: Tilt board: Press down on right button on mouse and hold, move mouse forward or backward, this allows you to tilt the board back or forward, moving the mouse right or left rotates the board left or right.

Enlarging or Reducing Board: Press the page down key on your keyboard to enlarge the board, while pressing the page up to reduce the size of the board. Moving the wheel on your mouse also enlarges and reduces the size of the board.
To enlarge tiles in a layout for play remove tiles from the width and height of a layout, this will increase the size of the tiles in a layout during play. For more instructions see editing layouts below.

Moving Board Right, Left, Up, Down:. To move the entire board right, left, up or down use your arrow keys on your keyboard.

Return Board to Game Default Setting: press Esc button to return the board to the game default setting.

Start a Solitaire Game:

Click on Game, on toolbar, select new game, select solitaire, then select layout.

OR click on , then click on a layout listed on the left side, then click play.

OR click on to switch from multiplayer game to solitaire.

OR click on Layout, on toolbar, select preview layout, click on a layout listed on the left side, then click on play, layout selected will load.

Start a Multiplayer Game:

Click on game, on toolbar, select new game, then multiplayer.

OR click on -starts a multiplayer game. For game instructions and multiplayer options see multiplayer rules.

Restart Game: Click on Game, on toolbar, then select Restart game, or click on button to restart game.

Undo: only works with solitaire, does not work with multiplayer game. Click on Undo, on toolbar, or click on button to undo last move.

Music: To turn music off click on button. This will turns button to black and white, repeat to turn on.

Sound: Turn sound off click on button turns. Repeat to turn on.

Hint: Click on Hint, on toolbar, or click on , a red cat appears on the top of two matching tiles. Click on the matching tiles.

Rotate: To rotate the tiles, solitaire only, click on Options, on toolbar, select rotation or click on , tiles will be randomly rotated. Repeat procedure to undo rotation. Position of the tiles ( rotation or upright) is denoted at the bottom of the screen.

Solitaire Rules. To change solitaire rules click on Options, in toolbar, select solitaire rules, select normal or border or click on . Play rules (normal or border) is denoted at the bottom of the screen. Normal is traditional play. With border rules only one side of a tile needs to be free. See solitaire rules for more information.

Change Tiles: Click on Options, on toolbar, select tile set or click on then select a tile set: classical (traditional), classical numbers (traditional with English numbers and letters added), cats, children, Christmas, farm, Halloween, penguins, spring, teddy bear, toys or wild animals

Pause Game-Click on pause, on toolbar, the game will pause, repeat to play.

Exit game: Click on Game, on toolbar, select end, or click on , or click on , to close game.

Features turned: When you select an options, will mark features turned on ,while will mark features turned off.

Training: Click on Game, select training. This feature will allow you to learn to play with step by step help for solitaire and multiplayer games.

Demo: Watch a game played. Click on Game, select demo, will begin a auto play game. Click on refresh button to stop demo.

Hall of Fame. Click on Game, select Hall of Fame, or click on to view Hall of Fame scores. After you win a game a window opens that allows you to enter your name to display in the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame retains the 10 best scores. To disable see scores.

Save Game: Click on Game, on tool bar, select save game or click on to save a game.

Load a Saved Game: Click on Game, on toolbar, select load game or click on then select game to load.

Solitaire difficulty levels: To change the difficult of the solitaire game, click on Options, on toolbar, select difficulty level, then select Easy or Medium or Hard

Change Background: Click Options, select background image, select the the background image to load. This background image will now load with the tile set currently open. To use the program's background for tile set, open tiles set, then click on options, select Use Default Background. Selecting none to load a black background.
To change background image to gray: Click on Options, select gray background. This will change all backgrounds to black and white images. To remove repeat instructions.

Change sound played when tiles removed: Click Options, select sound scheme, then select the sound scheme to load. This sound will now play when removing matching tile for the tile set currently open. To use the program's sound scheme for tile set, open tiles set, then click on Options, select Use Default Sound.

Border Options.

Change Orientation of Border: To change the side the border will displayed, click on options, select border orientation, select from left/top, left/bottom, right/bottom, right/top. This border is orientated right/top.

Change Border Depth: click on options, select Border Depth - small, medium, large. This border depth is large.

Change Border Texture: click on options, select Border Texture, then select new texture. This texture will load with the tile set currently open. To use the program's texture for tile set, open tiles set, click on Options, then select Use Default Texture.

Shadow Options

Change Shadow Orientation: click on options, select shadow orientation, then select one of the following: left/top, left/bottom, right/bottom or right/top. This shadow orientation is set to left/top, the shadow color was changed to green and the shadow size is small.

Change Shadow Size: click on Options, select shadow size, then select the shadow size: no shadow, small shadow or large shadow.

Change Shadow Color: click on Options, select shadow color, then select a custom color for shadows.

Scoring: Click on Options, select Score will enable score display. To disable score repeat. When score is disabled hall of fame score can not be entered. For multiplayer scoring see Multiplayer options below.

Remove scores in Hall of Fame: click on Options, select clear all scores, this will delete all the scores in Hall of Fame

Time yourself: Click on Options, select Time, this will display your game time at the bottom of the screen. To disable repeat procedure.

Change Multiplayer Options: click on Options, select multiplayer options, a window will open which will allow you to configure the multiplayer game. See multiplayer rules for more details..

Solitaire Layouts:

Preview Layout: click on Layout, on toolbar, select preview layout, click on a layout listed on the left side, then click on play, layout will load for play. To scroll through layouts press your up or down arrow keys or click on the cat arrows

Add a layout to Favorite list: click on layout, select preview layout, click on a layout listed on the left side, then click on add favorite, this will add the layout to your favorite list. All layouts which are favorites have a to the left of the name.

Quick Access to Layout Favorites : To access your selected layout favorites, click on favorites on the tool, then select the layout you want to play.

General Layout Rating: When you preview a layout, or load a layout, in the upper right corner you will see one to five small cats , the more cats displayed the more difficult the layout.

Layout creation

Create a New Layout: Click on layout, select new layout, left click on a tile to place a tile, right click a tile to remove a tile. You can only remove a tile which is free on it's right or left side. When you have completed your new layout click on save in the lower right corner of screen. Your new layout (or modified layout) automatically loads for play after you save. If your new layout or modification does not load for play you did not click on save and your works is lost.

Maximum layout area is 2-3 tiles from the outside edge of the background. If you can not place a tile on the edge of your layout, reduce the height and width of your layout. If you still have a problem placing a second layer tile, try changing the border orientation, reducing the border depth to slim and change shadow to none. If this does not solve problem you need to modify your design to what the program will allows. If you would like to share your layout with other players contact submit@21stsoftware.com

Modify an existing Layouts: Click on Layout, select Edit layout, then select the layout you want to edit. Left click on a tile to place a tile, right click a tile to remove a tile. You can only remove a tile which is free on it's right or left side. When you have completed your new layout click on save in the lower right corner of screen.

Remove all Tiles from layout: Click on clear in the lower right corner of screen or click on layout, select clear layout.
